CME Cries Foul at ICE's CBOT Bid

NEW YORK—The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) last week lashed out at the IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) for launching its own merger effort for the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) at the same time that the CME is looking to join forces with CBOT.

"This is an inferior offer," says Craig Donohue, CEO of the CME. "ICE poses significant integration risks that could adversely affect customers and shareholders."

Earlier this month, ICE offered to sell itself to the CBOT rather than suggesting a merger
