Colt Launches Low-Latency London-Frankfurt Connection

European financial industry data center and network services provider Colt has begun transmitting customer orders between London and Frankfurt through a low-latency optical networking system offered by Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Infinera, according to vendor officials.

Using Infinera systems that leverage new direct fiber routes, Colt began achieving measured latency of 4.22 milliseconds, one way, from London to Frankfurt, when it began to use the system on Aug. 18, according to the officials.
