BT Readies Switchless Voice Platform

Telecommunications giant British Telecom (BT) is banking on the success of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for the next generation of its software-based voice trading platform, which is set to go into trials in April for a July general release.

The new system is capable of supporting many thousands of ITS.Netrix trading turret users without the need to "rip and replace" existing technology or legacy software-based platforms, say BT officials.
