LSE, Nasdaq Plan Talks

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is slated to meet with the Nasdaq Stock Market, LSE CEO Clara Furse announced last week when the exchange released its financial results for its fiscal year 2006, which ended March 31.

Earlier this month, Nasdaq acquired 2,219,250 additional shares of the LSE for an average price of £12.36 ($23.15) per share. This purchase was the fourth in a month, making Nasdaq the biggest shareholder of the LSE with 25.1 percent of the issue share capital (DWT, May 22).
