EGX Nears X-stream Launch
The new system, which will replace EGX's legacy Horizon Trading System also from Nasdaq OMX, can support from 700,000 trades up to 1 million trades per day, as well as support trading in equities, debt, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), futures and options, say exchange officials.
The technology overhaul aims to address trading volume growth at the exchange, says Maged Shawky, EGX chairman. Five years ago the exchange was recording 7,000 to 10,000 transactions per day. Today's numbers are 10 times
