Prior to the deployment of the 10 Gbps Ethernet network switches from Arista Networks and server adapters from SolarFlare Communications, the Monterey environment suffered a performance penalty when operating in a virtual environment, according to Duncan Johnston-Watt, CEO of Cloudsoft and member of the Monterey consortium. "With the InfiniBand configuration, there was no support for accelerated input/outputs (I/Os), so we were bound by the performance of the hypervisor," he says.
