Oracle to Acquire BEA Systems
The transaction is expected to close in mid-2008 and is subject to BEA stockholder approval as well as regulatory approvals, officials add. Upon its completion, Oracle will become leader in messaging and transaction processing platforms and in middleware for the telecommunications protocol, says Larry Ellison, Oracle's CEO. "This transaction will accelerate the adoption of ... Java-based middleware as an alternative to Microsoft closed .Net architecture," he adds.
