Stock Exchange Outage Spurs MTF Changes

The outage occurred Nov. 9 at 3:04 p.m. local time for an hour, says an LSE spokesperson. "Within an hour, we were able to identify the problem," he adds. "We decided not to bring the market up immediately before the closing auction, but we were able to choose a cut-off point and give closing prices to FTSE [components], so the FTSE 100 Index could be counted as normal."

As a result of the incident, MTFs such as Chi-X Europe saw trading volumes spike.
