Pivot's core offering can extract text from instant messages, such as ticker symbols, trade size and other trade data, and populate it in an appropriate data field, explains Ed McDonnell, managing director with Pivot. "What Instant Market does is put it into a simple looking Microsoft Excel-like user interface," he adds. "It takes text and turns it into a market-data-like platform-it's not a market data platform, but it looks like one."
