Sybase Moves to Raise its IQ
The new version not only breaks up tables of data so that elements can be loaded more quickly in parallel and reconstructed for faster analysis, but can also compress stored data by up to 85 percent, making it faster to query and analyze data, and features range partitioning capabilities that allow users to determine whether data from a certain period of time is designated to disk farms that provide fast retrieval or to slower disk farms for older data.
