Merrill Lynch To Use Own Teleconferencing Network To Distribute Market Data For ADP System

THIS MONTH'S LEAD STORIES

Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. will use its own Ku-band satellite teleconferencing network to distribute market data for its new ADP branch automation system (MTR, January 1987). Already used for daily video programming and audio hoot 'n' holler circuits, the network will now also piggyback a 19.2 kilobits/second broadcast data feed.

ADP was originally expected to use an Equatorial Communications Co. small-dish system to broadcast quotes to Merrill Lynch branches, but Ku-band partisans within Merrill
