IT Union Fights HP for Jobs at BoI

OUTSOURCING

DUBLIN--Union pressure may yet sink a proposed $600 million IT outsourcing deal between the Bank of Ireland (BoI) and Hewlett-Packard (HP), following a walk-out by unionized IT staff that the workers describe as a "wake-up call" to the bank and HP.

The deal, provisionally agreed to in April, requires HP to manage desktops, midrange servers, mainframes, networks, output and printing, and facilities across all the bank's business lines including its treasury and investment banking operations. A
