Headline Bank Of Boston Picks Applix, Nixes Lotus, For 100 Users

Bank of Boston has implemented Applix Inc.'s Applix Real Time spreadsheet package for 100 positions in its Boston trading room. Applix's competition was Informix Inc.'s Wingz as well as the bank's incumbent system -- a combination of Lotus Development Corp.'s Lotus 1-2-3 and Market Arts Software Inc.'s Lotus Realtime Engine. Bank of Boston's decision additionally gives Applix the inside track in winning the bank's spreadsheet business at its other trading operations, namely in South America.
