SSB Offers FIX-Testing Option via B2B ITS

LONDON--To get buy-side clients up and running via the FIX protocol, the London branch of Citigroup’s Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) division has been using the outsourced, hosted FIX-testing gateway services of B2B Information Technology Services (ITS) since February, says Kevin Houstoun, director, electronic equity trading at SSB.

SSB’s efforts reflect a growing consensus that sell-side firms should take on the responsibility of making it easier for their buy-side partners to become FIX-compatible
