CC Issues Blueprint for LSE Merger
EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGIES
LONDON—The U.K.'s Competition Commission (CC) will allow either of two European exchanges—Deutsche Boerse (DB) or Euronext—to acquire the London Stock Exchange (LSE), provided each party promises to implement a package of structural and behavioral changes to ensure the independence of the LSE's clearing provider, according to a statement issued last week.
The CC's report finds that the proposed acquisition of the LSE by either exchange would substantially lessen competition, as "either merger
