Only Six Months Old, Brokertec Claims 17% Of Eurex Basis Trading

LONDON--Brokertec, the electronic fixed income trading system backed by a consortium of heavyweight banks, claims to have captured around 17 percent of Eurex basis trading only six months after the launch of its system--and it is going great guns on repos as well.

Brokertec did 17 percent of the basis trading on the Eurex cross-border electronic derivatives market on Jan. 16, which is about what the system is averaging on a daily basis. Late last year its market share crept up to around 20
