Merrill Taps IBM for Desktop Outsourcing

NEW YORK--Merrill Lynch has just signed a five-year, $95 million desktop outsourcing deal with IBM to provide support for the brokerage’s Wealth Management Technology Platform project, say industry sources.
The brokerage has also decided to purchase 23,000 desktop PCs from Dell Computer and approximately 2,000 servers from Hewlett-Packard, according to sources. Dell officials did not return inquiries by press time. HP and IBM officials declined to comment.
