Bear Supports Bond, Derivatives Traders With New Crays

REAL-TIME APPLICATIONS

Bear Stearns' Crays will be installed at the firm's Whippany, N.J.-based global data center on a water-cooled, concrete-padded foundation with a custom power supply. The bank has taken delivery of both machines, Cherasia says, pre-loaded with a core set of Bear Stearns-developed analytic software.

INITIAL FOCUS

The bank's Cray machines will be integrated with its existing network of Unix workstations and PCs. Derivatives and fixed-income traders will access the supercomputers through their desktop
