Virtualization, Semantic Web Highlighted at Wall Street Conference

NEW YORK--Virtualization, or the act of spreading out processing tasks among far-flung applications, hardware and software, was among the hottest of subjects at the recent Wall Street IT: The Next Generation conference in New York.

The conference, which played host to interpretations of many industry buzzwords, featured Rick Carey, chief technical architect at Merrill Lynch, who calls virtualization "one of the top five strategic goals at Merrill Lynch" and "a precursor to grid computing."
