Wall Street Seeks Outage Causes

At press time, Wall Street firms and exchanges were exploring the causes of a halt in trading that occurred Wed., June 1, beginning at 3:56 p.m. EST.

The interruption caused problems for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), American Stock Exchange (Amex) and the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PCX). Initial reports indicate that the glitch was caused by a failed communication link.
