Instinet Brings Smart Routing to Europe

LONDON—In a move due to be announced this week, Instinet, the brokerage subsidiary of Reuters, is set to bring its smart order routing technologies to Europe.

Originally developed in the U.S., the technologies support a market model where multiple execution venues compete over order flow in the same securities. That model is quite different from the one in Europe, where securities have traditionally only been traded at a single exchange.
