A Model of Leadership
A few months ago, five members of the reference data industry sat down at the Inside Reference Data conference in New York and took part in a panel discussion concerning the best way to manage enterprise data. Among other points, three business models were outlined for dealing with multi-site, multi-region, enterprise-wide data.
The models were dubbed the Dictator, the Federated, and a combination of the two, the Dictator/Federated model. Broadly, the panel defined the business hierarchies as
