The Return of the Market-Maker

On January 17, exchange operator Direct Edge plans to introduce market-maker functionality for its EdgA and EdgX exchanges.

Under the current terms of the program, members can apply to become market-makers, which requires them to have at least one designated Market Maker Authorized Trader (MMAT), who will make markets in specific issues.

Direct Edge will let the MMATs decide which symbols they will trade and will allow them to change them on a daily basis as long as the traders update the

Refinitiv’s PermID framework was conceived as a proprietary tool to address an internal challenge around identifying objects in the firm’s information model. Once it had proved its worth, it was rolled out to the firm’s clients to significant success.
