Bolsa Mexicana embarks on multi-year modernization project

Latin America’s second largest exchange is embracing cloud and upgrading its infrastructure in a bid to bolster its global standing, says CEO.

The origins of Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) can be traced to the streets of Plateros and Cadena in downtown Mexico City, where in 1880, brokers and entrepreneurs would meet to buy and sell various commodities and stocks. Soon, the brokers began organizing, and by the turn of the 20th century, Bolsa de México was an incorporated entity.

In 1975, it was rebranded the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), or the Mexican Stock Exchange, after merging the poorly performing Guadalajara and Monterrey
