A few years ago, Morgan Stanley’s interest rates, currency and commodities (IRCC) business decided the time was right to deliver the bank’s services via a single interface—its Matrix single-dealer platform. It was an ambitious goal to deliver real-time data, market commentary, analytics, trade ideas, execution capabilities and multimedia content from a single interface, but Morgan Stanley officials felt that the available technology was mature enough to handle the daunting task.
