For many financial institutions, cloud computing has been an internal initiative, mostly due to security concerns. Many organizations have limited Amazon.com's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and other third-party cloud providers' offerings to basic capacity on demand.

However, this looks like it is about to change in the near future.

A little over a year ago, I started to wonder when the industry would see the rise of third-party cloud environments that would address the security and regulatory
