Richard Reidy has been named president and CEO of Progress Software, succeeding Joseph Alsop. Alsop, who co-founded the vendor in 1981, resigned his posts and will not be standing for re-election to the board after his current term ends. Reidy joined Progress in 1985 as one of the original developers of the vendor's OpenEdge application development platform. Reidy will be responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Progress. He was also nominated
