Aetna, While Cutting Costs, Moves Forward With Maximis

Aetna Life Insurance Co. was set to go live last Tuesday with Texas Instruments Inc.'s Maximis portfolio management and accounting system to support its private placement securities group. The rollout, part of a phased Maximis implementation that has been in the works since 1989, takes place against a backdrop of headline-making restructuring charges at the firm.

By the end of 1994, Maximis is scheduled to support Aetna's full community of users; this includes more than 100 investment
