Final Version of Wall Street Reform Bill Includes Set Up of Data Collection Facility

The final version of the Wall Street Reform Bill, passed by the US Senate on Thursday, still includes the set-up of the much-discussed data collection and analysis centre, the Office of Financial Research (OFR).

The OFR will collect data from bank holding companies and non-bank financial companies to help monitor systemic risk. The data collected by the OFR will support the work of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, also an institution to be established following the bill.
