Asia’s MiFID II Compliance Countdown

The countdown to Jan. 3, 2018, when MiFID II will take effect, is starting to sound like the ominous ticking of a time bomb. Many details of the regulation have been available for some time, yet as the clock ticks down, questions still remain over interpretation. Wei-Shen Wong finds out whether Asian firms have defused the danger or are bracing for an explosion.

One of the challenges MiFID II brings to the table is the amount of additional data that needs to be recorded and reported to regulators. Particularly for firms not directly impacted by MiFID II, where the exact impact may be unclear, this might prove to be an even bigger task.
