Latest European Council Document Reverses Stance on Consolidated Tape

The European Council, one of three bodies responsible for approving the exact details of legislation around European Union's review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID 2), has announced a second about-face on whether a pan-European consolidated tape should be delivered by a single or multiple providers.

On March 1, the Council published a document outlining potential areas of compromise between itself and the European Parliament -- which is also responsible for passing MiFID
