Reg ATS: SEC 'bowing to public pressure' in reopening proposal

The US markets regulator has extended the comment deadline on a proposal to regulate Treasuries venues after it faced a storm of complaints from the public and financial industry.

Industry participants say this week’s decision by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to reopen the comment period on three regulatory proposals was a response to pressure from lawmakers and financial industry participants, who are concerned about what they say are overly aggressive regulatory timelines under the chairmanship of Gary Gensler.
