Europe is counting its vendors—and souring on US tech
Under DORA, every financial company with business in the EU must report use of their critical vendors. Deadlines vary, but the message doesn’t: The EU is taking stock of technology dependencies, especially upon US providers.
Across Europe, financial firms have spent April compiling lists of their critical tech vendors. The exercise is part of DORA, the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act, which asks firms to populate registers of information with data on their critical technology providers.
The project has coincided with interest in European digital sovereignty, a movement to limit the region’s reliance on foreign technology. Following threats of US tariffs earlier this month, some European leaders have proposed
