Technology alone is not enough for Europe’s T+1 push

Testing will be a key component of a successful implementation. However, the respective taskforces have yet to release more details on the testing schedules.

Last year, all eyes turned to North America as the settlement cycle for the US, Canada, and Mexico was shortened by a day. This year, that focus has shifted to the UK and EU’s move to T+1, expected in October 2027.

While the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, straight-through processing, and automation in workflows and processes aim to improve operational efficiency, some believe these solutions alone aren’t enough to address the myriad complexities involved in the UK/EU move.
