SEC's Lewis: Regulator Rapidly Catching Up With Analytics

In a presentation at the Waters USA 2012 conference in Manhattan today, Lewis offered a number of suggestions to the buy and sell side—namely that letters of comment to the SEC, which he encouraged, should become more detailed and precise in their economic analysis.

On the regulator’s end, Lewis, a professor of finance at the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt University, says the SEC’s rulemaking must do a better job of "explaining the limits of quantification" on particular issues, as
