13 Steps to Avoid the Next Flash Crash

The Joint Advisory Committee on Emerging Regulatory Issues released its recommendations in response to the May 6, 2010 Flash Crash that affected the US equities market.

The proposals include:

1. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) require that the pause rules of the exchanges and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (Finra) be expanded to cover all but the most inactively traded listed equity securities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs)
