Latency: From Sprint to Survival Course webcast

Speed and excitement go hand in hand. As does the notion that faster is always better, which has been reinforced over recent years as low-latency market data has driven the evolution of high-frequency trading. But with regulators frowning at the speed differences between the institutional and retail markets, and with firms' focus turning from latency reduction to cost reduction as the cost-and difficulty as trading nears light speed-of achieving meaningful latency increments increases exponentially, is the pursuit of low latency an endangered sport? Topics to be discussed as part of this webcast will include (but not be limited to) the following:
-- Taking stock: Assessing current competitive latency levels, and strategies for achieving, measuring, maintaining and exploiting optimal latency in today's environment with available tools.
-- Speed limits: The impact of continued cost pressures on trading firms' ability-and appetite-to invest increasing amounts in low-latency exercises. How can consumers get most bang for their buck?
-- Beyond speed: Looking beyond speed alone in vanilla assets: applying low latency strategies to new asset classes, new areas of a firm's infrastructure, and evaluating technologies that will deliver the next leaps in competitive advantage.
