Solace Platform Update Lowers Latency

Hardware-based messaging provider Solace Systems has achieved inter-process communications (IPC) message latencies below 400 nanoseconds, in tests conducted using its Unified Messaging Platform (UMP) application programming interface (API) through a single Cisco C200-M2 server, according to vendor officials.

By using the Cisco server, and with increased computing power in Intel Nehalem chips, Solace's new version 5.0 of the UMP API reduced latency to 388 nanoseconds from 618 nanoseconds in UMP
