Steve Randich, CIO and global head of technology for Citigroup's institutional clients group, has joined the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (Finra) as executive vice president and CIO, with responsibility for the regulator's technology function and its registration and disclosure division.

Randich's immediate responsibilities when he starts the new role on March 11 will include overseeing the continued rollout of Finra's new exam technology platform, enhancing its CRD/BrokerCheck online platform, and formulating Finra's proposal to provide a consolidated audit trail.

Before joining Citi—where he was also group co-CIO—in 2005, Randich was CIO and executive vice president of operations and technology at Nasdaq, prior to which he held a similar role at the Chicago Stock Exchange, and held management roles at IBM and KPMG.

Randich has been profiled twice by WatersTechnology—once while at Nasdaq, and more recently at Citi. He reports to Finra chairman and CEO Richard Ketchum, who also spent stints in senior roles at Citigroup and Nasdaq, where he served as president for 12 years.
