Major Firms Push the ATS Option

NEW YORK—With the debut of two separate alternative trading systems (ATSes) last week, it’s clear that the sell side is moving fast to provide the buy side with inexpensive, anonymous venues for moving blocks of trades, but industry observers are cautioning that a consolidation of electronic execution sites may soon follow.
